Babboe remains affordable
We keep innovating and ensure that more families have a chance to take the Dutch cargo bike for test rides. We are organising more open house days around the country using our dealernetwork. However, we continue to believe in our online approach. Since we do not deal with bicycle shops with high margins, we are able to keep offering affordable cargo bikes without compromising quality.
The Dutch bakfiets conquers the world
If it were up to us, every young family should get the chance to own a good, affordable cargo bike. The first cross-border steps were therefore soon taken. Although the bike isn’t everywhere as popular a mode of transportation as in the Netherlands, it is increasingly recognised as a sustainable alternative. What a beautiful start to Babboe’s adventure abroad!
City / Hybrid Bikes
Cyclo Cross / Gravel Bikes
Cyclocross bikes, or cross bikes, are better suited for light off-roading, such as riding on gravel or racing in the grass or dirt in a cross race. Cross bikes are more like road bikes with slight modifications. You can also think of cross bikes as a combination of road bikes and mountain bikes.
We have a range of kids bikes in all ages and designs. If you want a bike thats more than a toy, to be used and potentially passed on, to be build correctly and to fit your child correctly... then you need a bike from a bike shop.
Have confidence your child is safe riding a bike built by a professional
Mountain Bikes / Hardtail
The tires of mountain bikes are typically wider than those of cross bikes and are usually knobbier, to better grip the biking surfaces. Many mountain bikes now have disc brakes, although some still use v-brakes. Suspension is available on the fork and for the rear in mountain bikes. Mountain bikes use flat handle bars and trigger or grip shifters. Lastly, another major difference is that mountain bikes come with lower gearing to navigate tricky terrain.
Road Flat Bar / Fitness Bikes
Flat bar and fitness Bikes limit vibration effects with components carefully selected to bring you comfort and control on all surfaces. Its flat handlebars allow for a better grip at a raised, more natural position.
Time Trial Bikes
The TT bike is designed to avoid some of the problems potentially caused by adding tri-bars to a road bike (hunched neck and shoulder position, stretched lower back, loss of stability in the aero position, a feeling of being cramped and a reduction in breathing efficiency from the sharper angle between thigh and torso) by having a steeper seat tube angle which opens up the gap between the thigh and torso, with the bottom bracket in effect being further back. The top tube on a TT bike is also shorter, reducing the “stretch” to sit in the aero position. There is also a greater range of positions for the height of the aero bars on the top tube, allowing you to be in a lower more aerodynamic position if desired.
Access to the gear levers is also easier on the TT bike, with gear levels positioned at the end of the aero bars. This easy access promotes staying in the aero position and using the gears efficiently rather than possibly not shifting because you don’t want to keep moving.
Finally there has been some evidence to suggest athletes run quicker off a TT geometry bike compared to a road geometry bike, as slightly different muscles are engaged during cycling.
